If you are a true college football fan then you love all of college football. From the power five, group of five, and even the craziness of “MACtion” on Tuesday nights. We are going to start a weekly series on which MAC games should be featured on a weekly basis. This will feature three games that has the possibility of a win against a P5 or for the MAC East/West race. So sit back, relax and enjoy the list of games where the MAC could score wins over P5 opponents.
- Ball State vs. Illinois
- Northern Illinois vs. Boston College
- Bowling Green vs. Michigan State
Ball State vs. Illinois
It is hard to believe these programs have only met on the field once before when the Universities are only 170 miles apart. I like Ball State in this game, because I could see Illinois looking past them. I know that is hard to think a team would look past their opener, but they do have a top 20 USF team waiting for them after Ball State. Right now Vegas has the line at -11 favoring the Illini, but an improved Ball State team can close in the gap. Keep an eye out on Ball State running back James Gilbert, he has the ability to shred Illinois, there is a reason he is on the Maxwell watch list.
Northern Illinois vs. Boston College
The past couple of seasons Boston College has been near the bottom of the ACC, and their offense has been atrocious. Boston College has to visit Northern Illinois this Friday night, which makes a great recipe for an upset special. Even though the Huskies posted a losing record last year, the offense was still explosive posting over 450 total yards per game. Right now Vegas has it as a -2 advantage towards Boston College, which will make it a tricky bet for many. This might be the best chance a MAC team has at beating a P5 team this weekend.
Bowling Green vs. Michigan State
This game is included because we are all wondering what kind of Michigan State team will show up this season. The one that posted a losing record last season or the one that made the playoffs just two seasons ago. Michigan State has been notorious for starting seasons out slow, and usually let MAC teams play them competitively. Keep this game on your watch list.
